VE Testing

Our Volunteer Examiners, called VE's, have been administering the FCC exams here since 1983, through the ARRL VEC. The tests are usually given on the 2nd Saturday of every month (with some exceptions... no test in April, September or December 2009) at the Porter County Public Library, 103 Jefferson Street, Valparaiso, Indiana. Library opens at 9:00 am Central Time and testing will begin as soon as possible thereafter. No pre-registration is required. Bring a photo ID, original copies of your license and CSCE's, and photocopies of your license and CSCE's. Test fee for 2009 is $15 (exact amount appreciated).

There are two parking lots at the library, one on the west side of the building, and one on the north side. Only the north lot has designated handicapped parking spaces. There is also ample street-side parking. Jefferson Street is one-way going east (on the south side of the library), and Chicago Street is one-way going west (on the north side of the library). Please use extreme caution if you are not familiar with this area and try to arrive early.

Simple map to library
This map has now been updated to show the new "roundabout" located near Sturdy Road and Lincolnway. The maps below do not show the roundabout. Be careful!!! Print landscape mode with no margins, or fit to page. Some browsers do not like to print landscape, so save image to your computer and print from a graphics program if needed.

Question Pools for all written exams are public domain and available free from the ARRL. If you would like to take a practice exam online, try QRZ, or AA9PW's page. Although Morse Code is no longer required for a license, you might like to try Morse Academy! to help you learn the code or increase your Morse skills. It's free!

if you have any questions regarding amateur testing or licensing.
