Welcome to the PCARC!

Hi all,

The above pictures were sent from the International Space Station by Richard Garriott, W5KWQ, using Slow Scan Television (SSTV) on 2 meters. Many local hams copied pictures like these (using free software), and many others also made voice contact with Richard. It was a LOT of fun! If you weren't aware, Richard is the son of Owen Garriott, W5LFL, the first astronaut who operated a 2 meter handie-talkie from the space shuttle Columbia back in 1983. It was a LOT of fun listening to Owen 25 years ago too! You can see more SSTV images at this website (hint: click on the "archive" link for even more pictures).

A few of us have been playing with SSTV here locally also. Listen around on 145.550 FM... you might catch some SSTV, or packet, or maybe even some other digital modes. Drop me a note on email if you want more info.
